Taliesin Preservation, Inc.
Taliesin Preservation, Inc. (TPI) is a not-for-profit organization
created in 1990 as a task force to help restore and preserve Frank Lloyd
Wright's Wisconsin home, Taliesin, located in Spring Green, Wisconsin. This multiple building complex was created over a fifty year
period and represents virtually all of the phases of Wright's development
as an architect, offering an unparalleled view into his genius in
architecture and design.
Taliesin (TALLY-es-in), a Welsh word meaning"shining brow,"
encompasses a 600 acre estate with six primary buildings designed by
Wright: The Romeo & Juliet Windmill (1897), the Hillside Home School
(1902, 1932, 1952), the Tan-Y-Deri House (1907),
Midway (1920s-1950s), the Taliesin Residence (1911, 1915, 1925) and the
Frank Lloyd Wright Visitors Center, originally the Riverview Terrace
(1953).
TPI advances its dual mission of preserving Taliesin as an eminent
example of Wright's work and sharing it with the world through the
operation of an extensive Preservation Program. Their activities include
ongoing efforts in physical maintenance and restoration, landscape
maintenance and conservation, art collections and artifact preservation,
and educational and visitation programs. TPI works in close cooperation
with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, the owner and occupant of the
Taliesin estate, which manages the Frank Lloyd Wright School of
Architecture, Frank Lloyd Wright Archives and the
for-profit subsidiary, Taliesin Architects.
Currently, Hurtado, S.C. is providing pro bono assistance with TPI's Master Planning Program for restoration of the
Taliesin Residence and a related site stablization
program.
